The online advertising industry is operating unlawfully with respect to strict data protection regulations and has an "immature" understanding of its obligations, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) has claimed. The multi-billion pound AdTech industry, which is overwhelmingly dominated by Google and Facebook, is not gaining consent from users when processing personal data that includes information on sexuality, political leaning, or race, among others. The trend involving databases being used for analytics under the ever-popular software as a service (SaaS) model will see 75% of all databases being deployed or migrated to a cloud platform, according to Gartner's latest predictions. The IT analyst house also said that just 5% of these will ever be considered by owners to be taken back into on-premise infrastructure as businesses continue to realise the benefits of widespread cloud adoption. Island hopping is an increasingly popular cyber attack technique where cyber criminals infiltrate smaller companies, such as HR, marketing or healthcare firms, in order to access a larger target organisation. On March 23, Debian developers deleted Debian Wheezy from the repository because this version has reached its end-of-live. The wheezy-updates repository was deleted and wheezy-backports was moved to the archive. This may cause the update issues for ISPsystem if their panels are installed on Debian 7 Wheezy. (more…)
